Ulladulla Public School 150th 2011
Celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Ulladulla Public School to be held in 2011. Plans are just in the first phase. The School is looking for people to help on the organising committee.
The organsing committee are also looking for old photos of Ulladulla School days of the 1920s – 1950s, plus photos of all past Principals. There are many families who have had 4 and 5 generations attend Ulladulla Public School.
The School opened July 29 1861 with John Spurgeon as Principal/teacher on a salary of £7 per month. David Warden was chair of the School Board at the time. Each of the attending 36 students attending school had to pay 6d per week for their education and an extra 6d once a quarter for the book fund.
Activities plan include a special School Assembly, museum & memoribilla exhibition, tree planting by the oldest ex-students, and talks to all the classes. All students and teachers were be dressed in period costume as part of the days activities.
