Yes we were the Ulladulla Council back in those days. In July 1948 we became part of the Shire of Shoalhaven and now known at the City of Shoalhaven.
Back in July 1944 we had a straying stock problem in Mollymook.
That’s right as complaints had been received from residents of Mollymook and elsewhere of the inconvenience and damage caused by straying stock to the travelling public & to gardens. The matter is one needing some attention. Council resolved on the motion of Ald.Lawler and Buckland that an advertisement be inserted in the Milton Times calling for applications from persons willing to undertake the position of Impounding Officer.
The council minutes also list the building permission to build like in 1939 of W. Gresty Lot 14 section 5 Ulladulla extension to present Garage and W Higgins Weather board cottage in St. Vincent St.Ulladulla.
Did you know that in November 1939 the Mollymook Surf Life-saving Club asked that the Council again engage a life-saver over Christmas, and offering the use of the club-house for that purpose. On the motion of Aid. Ingold & Hunt it was resolved that the offer be adopted and a life-saver be engaged for two weeks at £5. per week. The Mollymook Surf Life-saving Club also asked permission to erect a surf-boat Shed on Mollymook beach. Permission was granted on the motion of Ald. Ingold and Searle.
So there is lots of great reading and history to be found in the minutes along with a few giggles.
