The Ulladulla Summer Games
free poker tournament where over 75 players tried their
hands and battle it over the poker table. It was great to
see some first timers try their luck and skill at poker.
On the second hand of the tournament, tension mounted, as
Jane Hancock went all in and survived. Play
continued with many checks, calls and raises, and some
folds. At the first break, chip leader was Neil Trenear and
there had been some great plays by Phillip Faux and Lawrie
Barclay.
Many players had been eliminated including Ben Huisman when
his Ace high straight was beaten by that full house, he was
later seen along with Jill Binns, Elke Smith-Hill, John
Venn, Don Clugston and many other poker players at the sit
and go games held during the day. Play continued until the
final eight remaining players reached the final table when
Alison Pollard went out on the bubble.
Now the action really started, first out in eighth position
was new local poker player Rebecca Menzies of Ulladulla,
followed by Rob Granger of Mollymook in seventh place.
Jannie Cunningham of Nowra and visiting Poker player Ray
Reedie of Campbelltown were next to leave the final
table.
Cathy Dunn and Chris Jones also left a few hands later, and
then tournament was down to the final two players. Watched
by a crowded gallery, with some great cards, betting and
calls, Krystle Fowler came in second to Arthur Dunn, when
his straight on the river card beat her two pairs.
Matt from the Australian Poker league presented the top
three winners with the Ulladulla Summer Games Gold, Silver
and Bronze medals.
A big thanks to the Bowling Club for their hospitality on
the day and the many players form Sussex Inlet and Nowra who
travelled to the area for the Day. Thanks also to the
sponsors of the tournament some of whom actually joined in
on the games of poker. Tournament first place getter Arthur
Dunn won the exclusive Poker table and chips from the
Australian
Poker League and
cash from the Bowling club.
Arthur donated the dinner at Laguna d'zur International at
Burrill Lake back to the tournament players who had stayed
all day, and Ben Huisman won the lucky poker draw for the
Dinner prize.
Second place winner Krystle Fowler will be enjoying a
relaxing day at the ISIS
Egyptian Spa and Salon
at Burrill Lake. Chris Jones won the Rennies
Oceanviews BnB Ulladulla
package whilst Cathy Dunn will be having dinner at the
Settling Inn at Milton with the winner Arthur. Other
