Due to the amount
of rain recently received, a tree from the Ulladulla
Primary School reserve fell onto a demountable Year 4
classroom. No one was seriously injured in the
accident.
The
large gum tree (approximately 60ft high) crashed down on
their classroom. The tree was located outside the school
boundary, in bushland, near a small creek. The teacher
evacuated the classroom and went back inside to search
for any pupils who might have been trapped.
All students were accounted for. The northern wall of the
demountable building sustained extensive damage, and the
entire roof of the classroom was caved in.
Some
classes have now been transfer to Ulladulla High. Contact
Ulladulla Primary School for more details.
Work has comenced on the clearing of the site. The
Department of Education will be investigating into the
cause the accident.
Maybe the Department at the same should review the
location and over crowding of the demountables at
Ulladulla
High School.
