Ulladulla High
School is among the big winners in the latest round of
Australian Government education grants. The Member for
Gilmore, Joanna Gash has announced local projects have
been approved for funding under the Whole of School
Intervention Strategy, including two from Ulladulla High
School.
Ulladulla High School has secured more than $50,000 for
its Milton-Ulladulla Homework Centre ($31,137.50) and
Milton-Ulladulla Community Learning Centre ($19,101.80)
projects. The Whole of School Intervention Strategy
focuses on the implementation of creative approaches to
improving the education outcomes of indigenous school
students.
The Milton Ulladulla Homework Centre will provide a
conducive environment to work and complete homework, with
the assistance of qualified tutors, teachers and
indigenous mentors.
The Milton Ulladulla Community Learning Centre will
enable students to have their school-based learning
reinforced in an environment supported by aboriginal
aides, parents and community leaders.
The Ulladulla High School projects are worthy
recipients of the grants and the schools principal,
Tracey Provest, should be congratulated for championing
the plans, Mrs Gash said.
