Umpires must provide their own whistle, something to keep centre passes and wear correct footwear.

Whistles $10 each are available at the Canteen.

Rule Books $12 each are available through your Club or at the Canteen.

Check-in to Umpires Control at least a clear 15 minutes prior to the game and sign the Umpires Roster. GAMES WILL NOT COMMENCE UNLESS ALL UMPIRES HAVE SIGNED THE UMPIRES ROSTER.

Collect your Trainee Umpires Bib and return after the game.

Dress Code for Umpire - White or Cream in colour. Jnr. Rep teams have a white polo shirt, even High School white polo shirt is alright. (Umpires Control has some spare white skirts and tops.)

Check the goal posts have green padding on. (Notify Umpires Control if they do not).

Check the court for glass, stones etc. and report to Umpires Control/Committee member that the court is too dangerous to play on and will require sweeping.

Check that the netball to be used is not flat and if so, inform the coach.

Toss with the other Umpire for the northern end (which is the closest to the Clubrooms).

Discuss with other Umpire whether teams will be called by bib colours or name of team.

Check for jewellery and nails. (Please do not touch the players hands/fingers when checking.)

Fingernails - shall be short and smooth (No Gloves as per All Australia Netball Assoc. Ltd.).

Jewellery: *No item of jewellery, except a wedding ring and/or medical alert bracelet, shall be worn. If either or both are worn, each shall be taped.

Remind both teams that they must toss for the first centre pass and must inform both Umpires straightaway so that both Umpires are indicating whose centre pass it is. The Umpire's whose direction the centre pass is going in blows the first whistle and then as each goal is scored in the controlling umpires end that same Umpire controls the next centre pass.

(Please ensure that you indicate the direction of every centre pass.)

Ensure that the score sheet has been completed with names and registration numbers of players and that there is a scorer from both teams sitting together.

When the warning bell has sounded you should have completed all above tasks and one of the umpires should have the netball in their hand ready to place in the centre circle.

At the end of the game both Umpires must sign the score sheet.

Both captains and scorers must have signed the score sheet before both Umpires sign. It is not the Umpires responsibility to hand in the score sheet, it is the winning team.

Please ensure that the game commences on time and should you be the only Umpire on the court, inform Umpires Control then start the game on time and umpire both ends of the court until an Umpire arrives.

Please do not call any decisions in the other Umpire's area.
