Official Opening of the Netball Complex - 20 August 2006

The new netball complex at Ulladulla Sports Park was officially opened by Shoalhaven City Mayor Clr. Greg Watson on Sunday 20th August with approximately well over 240 people witnessing this momentous occasion.

President Debbie Todeschini welcomed the Shoalhaven City Mayor Clr. Greg Watson, Shelley Hancock, Member for the South Coast, John Wells, Director Community & Operations (Shoalhaven City Council), Clr. J. Finkernagel (Chairman of Shoalhaven Sports Board), Carol Baiton, NSW Netball Director Technical Services, Margaret Corbett (National Talent Scout of Players), Sponsor J. R. Jewellers, Netball Associations from Dapto, Southern Suburbs, Tuross & Shoalhaven and past and present committee members, players, coaches, managers, umpires.

The “blast from the past” demonstration game with Rhonda’s Oldies triumphant, 6 goals to Barbies Dollies 5 goals and the Junior/Intermediate “Gala Fun Day’ saw teams travelling from Dapto, Southern Suburbs, Tuross & Shoalhaven to join in our celebrations, lots of good netball was played throughout the day which also included a Development Day for Umpires (thank you to Vicki White & Rob Grimson), and the selection of a Development Squad, (players turning 14-17 yrs in 2007 for each Association in their region), thanks to the selectors Margaret Corbett, Carole Shepherd & Janet Baker.

The ‘Official Opening’ raffle winners - J. Colusso Ticket No. 13E Black Star 1st Prize One Pulsar Ladies Watch; R.Bamford Ticket No. 67E Red Heart 2nd Prize $100 Gift Voucher & J. Griffiths Ticket No. 78E Red Heart 3rd Prize $50 Gift Voucher. All prizes donated by J. R. Jewellers, Shop 1, Dolphin Court, 11 Boree Street, Ulladulla.

A special thanks to all our teams, Waves Club and the wonderful band of parents, volunteers, committee & life members prior to and throughout the day at the Canteen and BBQ which made this day flow so successfully, and of course our ‘Official Opening Committee’ even organised the weather for us, thank you ladies.
