What?! You've never been to Milton's Scarecrow Festival? Well you just don't know what you've been missing. This year’s theme is fairy tales and make believe, giving plenty of scope for your imagination to go wild and create a master piece and win a great prize.

The community of Milton invites everyone to the 16th annual Milton Scarecrow Festival on Saturday and Sunday of the June long weekend, 2009, so come along, participate, win a prize or just be entertained and enjoy all that Milton Village has to offer, great fashion boutiques, cafes, home wares, antiques, two pubs and supermarket plus parklands and picnic grounds for the family to relax.

Saturday is markets, music and scarecrows hanging around. Sunday is the Big Scarecrow day, everybody brings their scarecrow to town. Milton Village gets invaded by real scare crows and people dressed up as scare crows, there can be more than a hundred wonderful creative entrants all vying for the coveted best scarecrow certificate title for 2009.

First prize for the best scarecrow is a $350 IGA Supermarket shopping voucher, second prize is $150 and third $100. Plus there will be on Sunday as well as the scarecrows there is lots of fabulous entertainment kicking off at 10 am, with a focus on local talent, guests will be amazed at the level of talent performing dance, music, song, circus, magic, street theatre, farm yard animals, games and rides. Everything an old fashioned country town can offer.

Leading up to the festival scarecrows start appearing throughout the neighbourhood, climbing trees and fences, sitting around and waiting for the big day. There are also many scarecrows who travel from far to win one of the many prizes.

A new addition to this year’s festival is the decorated mask competition, blank masks are available from the Milton news agent, get one for each member of the family, decorate it, paint it, stick things on it, make it great, wear it on Scarecrow Sunday, have some silly fun and win one of the many prizes.

So between craft demonstrations, street theatre: between pumpkin pies and scarecrow viewing and dancing, you will find complete entertainment for the whole family.

Plus there is the some great family entertainment, farm animal zoo, horse drawn carriage, pony rides, live scarecrows, face painting, jumping castle and much more. So there you have it, a small community festival with big entertainment and bigger fun.

Sunday is the big day of the judging, the scarecrows all gather and jostle in the town posing to impress the judges. The winning scarecrows and their proud 'parents' are awarded prizes. Download registration form
