H.M.S. Sirius 1788 Boatswain's Mate Royal Navy, Buried at Dawes Point Sydney. The headstone erected to his memory was discovered in 1871. It was being used as a paving stone in Bethel Lane in the Rocks area of Sydney. It is the oldest extant headstone in Australia, currently in the custody of the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.
