Historian Cathy Dunn from Ulladulla is doing it again
Historian Cathy Dunn who lives in Ulladulla is doing it again – travelling to Norfolk Island for the hosting of the Norfolk Island History Lovers tour in May 2017.
In 2016 Cathy Dunn, historian and publicist of Ulladulla launched one of her ebooks in a series on the first settlement of Norfolk Island, which features some Milton Ulladulla Local pioneer families.
The ebook Culprits on Norfolk Island: Golden Grove October 1788 includes John Gowen who first arrived in NSW as a Corporal, Royal Marines 47th Company aboard HMS Sirius 1788 and he travelled to Norfolk island aboard the Golden Grove in October 1788.
His son John Gowen married Mary Smith, she too was from a First Fleet family, and they lived at Braidwood. Mary Gowen died at Woodburn Milton in 1905, and buried at Sandridge Cemetery Mollymook. The families Gowen, Shoebridge, Proctor, Hapgood and others are descendants of John Gowen.
Another one of Cathy’s Norfolk Island ebooks include the Mitchell family of the “Molly Moke” farm. Henry Mitchell is the grandson of Elizabeth Youngson, a first fleeter who is featured in People of HM Supply Norfolk Island March 1789 Ebook. She has many descendants living in the local area today including the families of Mitchell, Jones, Ahrens and others.
Many of us know Cathy’s marketing business South Coast Promotions. Cathy Dunn is also the IT Media manager of this website www.ulladulla.info, in addition to the publisher of many local Milton Ulladulla history publications and that spirit Charlotte who walks the streets at night on the Milton ghost walks. Whilst on Norfolk Island Cathy will also be working on an emarketing Heritage Tourism project.
