Brothers – Herbert (Hubert) James Francis and Harold Francis also served in WW1

The Francis Family settled at Milton in 1885 originally from Kiama. Three sons of James Francis and his wife Mary Ann nee East served with the armed forces in in WW1, Hubert born 1886, Clifford born 1893 and Harold born 1893. James Francis operated a saddlery in the main street of Milton.

Clifford Frances enlisted September 1914 and served at Gallipoli and carried out the unloading of ammunition off Anzac, after being invalid in Anzac and discharged. Arriving back home in Milton in March 1916, Clifford re-enlisted in 1917.
