10-year Community Strategic Plan
Shoalhaven City Council has endorsed the final draft of the Shoalhaven City Community Strategic Plan for 2010-2020 as part of a new suite of plans that form part of the Integrated Planning and Reporting framework.
The final draft Community Strategic Plan will be on display for public response from 3 May to 2 June 2010. The final draft Plan is the result of extensive community consultation since September 2009. Council has received more than 1,000 responses and submissions to inform the draft plan, and Council itself has met and discussed the Community Strategic Plan on several occasions.
Shoalhaven City Mayor Councillor Paul Green said the Community Strategic Plan is flexible and also rigorous so that the city can grow and develop in four major areas – communities, economy, environment and leadership.
“In pulling the Community Strategic Plan together council has listened to many different parts of the community and we have had to be quite rigorous to ensure that many views have been incorporated into the final plan,” Clr Green said.
“The Community Strategic Plan is suite of four major documents, including the Resourcing Strategy and the Delivery Program and Operational Plan, which will make up the high-level management documents for which Council will be accountable.”
The final draft Plan includes 19 objectives, and 82 strategies to achieve these objectives. The plan is now available on Council’s internet site at http://www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/. Council has endorsed for consultation it’s first draft Delivery Program, 2010-2013, and the Operational Plan, 2010-2011.
Clr Green has encouraged all citizens and visitors to the city to view the documents either on line, at http://www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/, or at Council’s administration centres and libraries to make a comment on the plans. The Community Strategic Plan will replace Council’s CityPlan and Community Plan, and will outline a vision for the city.
